Good to see Mike in full paradox mode. I hate the damn things, because any thorough explanation I read seems to end up with complex arguments on semantics and statistical proofs. Just posted because I've got your copy of that diabologic story, John. Remind me to bring it back to you some time soon b...

I actually downloaded the anthology just to see what it was like. Having no idea when most of it was written, and not knowing much about the music of that era, the harmonies reminded me of the Beach Boys. Some of the harmonies sound a bit...forced, maybe: it's clear they're pushing their vocal range...

Ah, I had been wondering why it was done on film. I never realised the project had been on the go for so long! It's reminded me to go register on the site so I can have a good browse as well.

I love the school holidays for the lack of traffic, especially seeing as the A6 is closed. Makes the 40% longer journey a little more bearable. Some of these responses are just me playing devil's advocate, but here goes: 1) Good idea, only works in cities, but that's where the problem is anyway... 2...

I suspect the error wasn't your fault: there's probably a security issue with phpbb itself. Unfortunately any vulnerabilities like that seem to get exploited pretty quickly. All you can do is keep things up to date and hope for the best.

Europe and the USA are probably China's biggest customers: the Chinese economy has a stupidly high growth rate because they're exporting so much stuff. China is now building 550 coal-fired power stations. Coal-fired! Excellent. We're essentially emitting a ton of greenhouse gases by proxy, as we're ...

I had visions of John and Mark roped together on a sheer cliff for a moment there, sipping tea and pondering the way up. At least the views were worth it (are they ever not?).

Something tells me you won't have to wait long: it is Greater Manchester, after all. Either that or you can call the military and get them to start cloud-seeding...

I can imagine the last four verses there being quite easy to put to music, something similar to the Pogues might suit it (it's a compliment, honestly!). That's some decent stuff that you've posted, although I prefer the Edmund FitzGerald one.

I went to see it a while back, probably about the same time as (with?) Mike. The temptation is to visit again, to see if there's been much visible progress, as they've hopefully sorted out all the boring "make it water-tight and not dangerous" stuff and done something pretty.

Monday to Thursday aren't great (except for seeing friends), but it's gotta be Friday because I can just go home and chill, and know I don't have to be in work for the next two days. I've always found Sundays quite melancholy, and I've no idea why. Foreboding at the week ahead, or sadness the weeken...
