Doctor Who - Behind the Sofa

We've bought a couple of Doctor Who Blu-ray disc boxed sets, for seasons 14 and 17 so far, and have been enjoying some top quality Tom Baker. One of the Special Features is "Behind the Sofa" where actors, producers, writers that have been involved (not necessarily in these episodes) are wa...

Re: The Current State of Play

As I've been doing the lens and camera reviews for ePHOTOzine, all sorts of cameras and lenses come my way. A fantastic solid stream of Interesting Things. It shows up that all marques are good and less good at specific things, but one odd strength of Pentax AF systems seems to be the ability to foc...

Re: Snapper Box Set - Four Seasons

Latest reports suggest August/September, so I'm guessing it will be in time for the Christmas market. Or just after.......

Come on guys, get it organised before we're all too old to care!

Out Into The Big Wide World

Lockdown over and we've been out and about in the Big Wide World for a couple of months now at least. Judging photo competitions hs gone back live rather than Zoom, holidays are back on the agenda and it's also been much easier to find good locations to shoot sample images for lens and camera review...

Re: Lockdown

It might be misdirection Mike. Perhaps when I said a bit of decorating I was referring to your Mum and her renovations of the doll's house....

Snapper Box Set - Four Seasons

Due out this summer, and only happening thanks to my friend Ken Charmer, is the boxed set that spans the whole career of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. What I'm expecting it to be: One vinyl album being the unreleased Mono version of The Genuine Imitation Life Gazette One coffee table book 43 C...

A Touch of Jazz - Frankie Valli

A new CD from Frankie, due out on 25th June 2021. He's obviously been busy during lockdown as these are new recordings.

87 years old and still going strong!

Lockdown

We're not doing too badly at the moment with Lockdown. House maintenance, a bit of decorating, lots of internet activity, a couple of reviews of lenses done for EPZ. I've even found time to look at scanning a few very old 35mm slides.

Next up is to work a bit more on this website!

Life, The Universe and Everything

I remain puzzled about it all, and perhaps the answer is 42, but then again.... So we have a pile of primordial sludge, just your average pre-life soup, and suddenly it gets a jolt and next thing you know it's making cups of tea and inventing the internet. I have left a bit out, but in terms of infi...

The Current State of Play

With posting so much on Pentax User and ADAPS and Facebook and ePHOTOzine and goodness knows where else, there's not been much time to update my own forum. I put things on here that avoid getting Facebook wound up sometimes, but generally there's nothing left to say when I've finished elsewhere. But...

VHS RIP

Well, our penultimate ( we have one in stock unused yet) VHS recorder died peacefully yesterday. It was still connected up and was carrying the Freeview antenna data and then it all went quiet....so it had to be removed from service and the input was rerouted directly into the TV. That Sony recorder...

Tablet Dangers

It amazes me sometimes how thick intelligent people can be. Thinking of the prescribed tablets I handle for my Mum, for years the style of each tablet has been the same. If we looked in the BNF (British National Formulary) then a tablet would be described as, say, "oval, white tablet with centr...

Re: 4G or not 4G?

Since I wrote this I've been getting some crazy 4G speeds. At one point I measured 95 Mbps, although to be fair it could have been a local Virginmedia hotspot for all I know.

But whatever the reason, it's going very well.

30 Years?

I was reading somewhere that we stop listening to music at the age of 30 and then don't take onboard anything new after that. Who writes this nonsense? I can think of all sorts of music I've taken on board since the age of 30, and continue to do so as I discover new things. The moral to this must be...
