Jessops Reaches The End of the Line

http://news.sky.com/story/1035613/jessops-pwc-confirms-role-as-administrator It's a long time since Sue was made redundant from Jessops, when they removed all the expertise of their assistant managers and others from the company. After that something of the soul of the company was lost and it's been...

Re: Paloma Faith

It won't be long now before we see the concert at Manchester Apollo, so that will be interesting. My only regret is that we missed by a hairs-breadth the event at Larmer Tree Gardens. That would have been my ideal venue and we only missed it by being on holiday one week out. Just one of those things...

Re: Soap

Seasons Three and Four have now arrived, so the tale can continue! It's all so wonderfully excessive... Speaking of realism though, it's not really any less realistic than that dreadful scene in Dallas, "Bobby, I've just had a terrible dream...." - the turning point where Dallas lost the p...

Sarah Millican DVD

Just over one hour and twenty minutes of the laid back, deadpan delivery of Sarah Millican. Splendid. Sue was in stitches in parts. Sarah Millican is without doubt one of the best, if not the best, of the stand-up comedians. Clever, perky, witty, a sort of female Michael MacIntire, without any of th...

Re: Salt

Just on the subject of salt, I was relecting that pepper gets a poor deal in the thing. P comes before S in the alphabet, so peopper might have a certain expectation of being billed first.

But no, everyone asks for salt and pepper, not pepper and salt. Salt has really stitched up pepper on this.

The City State of the Invincible Overlord

My intrepid Wednesday night adventurers have been finding their feet in the capital of Calandia, the city of Briarwood. Steeped in intrigue, it hasn't taken them long to get involved in some pretty hefty stuff. Some of it is much heftier than they might be currently expecting. Of course, if you star...

iPad 4 Retina Display

I have had the iPad for almost a week now and am quite happy with the things it does well. I can surf the internet, send and receive messages and browse such things as YouTube, all connected to the home WiFi and streaming with near-identical speed to the PC. The quality of the screen is excellent, a...

Salt

We are told that too much salt is bad, although also too little is also bad, but what has happened to the taste of food? Soup, bread, baked beans and many other foods now seem to have reduced salt and therefore reduced taste. So we have to add salt....crazy. And before anyone thinks it's my aging ta...

Doctor Who - In Instalments.....

Crikey, don't we wait a long time these days for a season of Doctor Who to run its course? Having 13 (or 14 including Christmas) eopisaodes is tolerable, but they come in dribs and drabs these past couple of years.

Having said that, Jenna-Louise Coleman looks very promising!

Re: Soap

All hail to eBay, there have been previous issues of all four seasons. So we are now working our way through Season Two. It's nice to be able to watch as few or as many at a time as we wish - these days the idea of waiting a whole week for the next episode of anything seems unbearable!

Pathfinders in Space - To Mars - To Venus

This ABC Television series from 1960 was one of the first that really excited me and led me to a love of Science Fiction. Something to dream about! Gerald Flood starred as Conway Henderson, an ex-jet pilot who travels to the moon along with a mixture of scientists and children. Yes, children. We cer...

Sherlock Holmes

Ah, the classic sleuth in a whole book of fascimile reproductions of the orginal pages from The Strand magazine. It's the best way to read them - it becomes an even more authentic period piece and adds to the dark Victorian atmosphere.

Splendid!

Soap

This is the story of two sisters, Jessica Tate and Mary Campbell...we've just finished watched Season One, and it's a long time since we saw them. We do have a few odd episodes recorded off air onto VHS, but the whole season was an amusing pleasure to watch. I's forgotten just how pretty Jodie's gir...
