Classic AD&D

I was thinking about all the fantastic AD&D games that we have played and/or DM'd.

What was your favourite?

I'm going to put in a vote for The Secret of Bone Hill and The Assassin's Knot, two lower level adventures that gave us a lot of fun.

Victoria Baths

Today we had an ADAPS outing to Victoria Baths in Manchester. We took three models and spent a good three hours photographing them and the building. Now under restoration in the Turkish Baths section, but the three pools and the outbuildings are open on the first Sunday of every month. Or you make a...

The Balfours

The Balfours hail from Edinburgh and latterly the aunts (Jeannie, Alice, Mary) lived in Marchmont Road. In the 1930s they had their family holidays in and around Crail and Balcomie beach. I travelled up to Crail a few years back and had a long walk round the headland. The walk from Crail to Balcomie...

Pentax User Articles

It was pointed out to me that it might be useful to list my published articles, all appearing in Pentax User Magazine: Issue 3 2003: Portfolio by ADAPS Members. I prepared the images and wrote the text. 4 pages. Issue 1 2004: In Search of Rembrandt. Lighting technique project at ADAPS. Co-written wi...

The Cat Speaks

Well it sounded like it anyway. Shaney wanted to go out whilst we were eating tonight and she said, "Mummy." Sue and I both stopped in amazement....

So has the cat said her first word, or did it just sound like it?

We may never know.

Bags of bags

Yes, lots and lots of them. I collect camera bags like some ladies collect handbags and shoes, mentioning no names of course... The trouble is that no one design will suit all circumstances, but generally the requirement is for a soft bag that will fit snugly against the side of the body, is waterpr...

My Favourite Day of the Week

I wonder... Monday I like for its sense of being a fresh start. Tuesday I like because things are up and running and there's still plenty of week left. Wednesday I like because it's AD&D night and we're half way there and coasting at maximum altitude. Thursday I like because it's ADAPS night and...

Nathalie Archangel

A terrific singer/songwriter that I first discovered doing backup vocals and joint leads on the Four Seasons album "Hope & Glory" (1992) Nathalie's three albums are Nathalie Archangel (1978, Columbia), a very rare CD indeed that you will probably find as a Japanese pressing. Owl (1992,...

Weakly Bin Collections

Bin collections are a topical subject with the threat of weekly collections becoming fortnightly ones. A while ago Sue had been happily filling our bin and eventually the day came for collection. She wheeled it out, placed in nicely in position and that was that. No problem fow my Winsome Wife. Alon...

Eric Frank Russell

It's often said that if EFR had sritten in some other genre rather than SF he would be much better known than he is. A Liverpudlian with a Transatlantic style, EFR was a superb writer of high technical skill and incredibly good humour. From adventure with a twist to poignant heart-rending tales to s...
