My Favourite Childhood Books

Post by John »

I have a small collection of children's books, some of which have been with me from childhood and some which have been replaced later out of interest.

Here are some of my favourites, what are yours?

Toby Twirl (various)
Finn Family Moomintroll by Tove Jansson
Little Black Sambo
The Famous Five (21 books) by Enid Blyton
I Flew With Braddock by George Bourne

And probably many more, but those few stick from memory.

A few more from my collection:
Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner (of course)
Peter Pan & Wendy (with Lucy Attwell's delightful colour drawings)
Greyfriars Holiday Annual (Billy Bunter etc. I used to have the first one, but it was lost years ago)

And two more ordered today from Abe Books:
Granpop's Annual (loved it when about 8 years old and all the adults hated it, so fascinated to see what I think now)
Stubby, The Story of a Cat by Himself (I remember a really sad beginning, as Stubby is torn from his Mummy....)

Every now and then I find something to add to the shelf. Not sure why, but why not, I'm just a collector at heart.
