Spooks - Code 9

Post by John »

We tried episodes 1 and 2 of this and I'm afraid it's a definite Thumbs Down.

Peurile script, dreadful wooden acting, totally unbelievable characters.

The idea of harnessing the young to interact with and defeat young terrorists is fine, but unfortunately they don't do that. They are just younger actors doing the same things that every other similar show does, but looking like children whilst they do it.

The 16 year old assassin in Episode 1 looked plainly ridiculous, more like a newspaper boy never mind a crack shot with a rifle.

Now you might argue that very young people are in fact used for terrorist purposes throughout thw world, but not these actors. They have never seen anything more arduous that a slightly late tube train, so they don't cut the mustard at all. It makes me feel sorry for them really, having to try and say all these ridiculous lines when they have no gravitas to carry them off.

Cinematically they try to use the Torchwood style of cutting from scene to scene. They should try watching it again and getting it right.

1s but only as I'm in a good mood.
