Star Trek XI

There have been quite a few contrary opinions about this one, from really great to a huge yawn...
I have never been much of a Star Trek fan, but it's tolerable entertainment that sometimes lifts itself higher than average. This film achieves its goals admirably. Good special effects, a story worth a double TV episode and some very good acting and casting. As it's a prequel this is vitally important as they needed to make the well known characters seem believable. In this they excelled and I could take on board all of the main players.
It was good SF entertainment that was true to its roots. I've no doubt that the experts will find enough loopholes to ruin a good pair of socks, but that's their problem!
