A new Doctor, a new Head Writer, even a new Tardis interior....how did it all fit together?
Amy Pond was a brilliant character - a feisty ginger headed girl - quite brilliant. The Doctor by contrast seemed almost invisible for most of the season. I couldn't react to Matt Smith's portrayal, it was....empty....but in a way that was also very clever. The Doctor has often been the quiet catalyst in the background, unnoticed, under-estimated by those around him as he manipulates events....this quality was most evident in William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton, especially the latter. By the final episodes I was hooked again into the series and I'll look forward to seeing them all again as the DVD releases arrive.
