Another new (to us) series from Acorn TV, and actually based on a series of books by Julie Wassmeyer. We liked the TV series, so I've started reading the books. The first one "The Whitstable Peal Mystery" is very well written and I'm now about half way through. What's striking is that books that are intelligently put together can make excellent drama for TV or film, whereas books based on TV or film scripts tend to be rather thin and trivial.

So well done Julie, I'll look forward to reading the other eight novels.
