Ah yes, the group that I have collected since 1966 and have just about everything ever released, and a few things that haven't.
A new CD has been promised probably since 1991, first a Four Seasons album that was reutedly being delayed by "excessive perfectionism" according to the musical director. Then there was Frankie's Jazz album, of which maybe 8 tracks were laid down but have never seen the light of day.
Finally, following the success of "Jersey Boys" the Broadway stage show, Universal asked Frankie to do an album of 1960s covers. It is reported that this is now ready for release and is expected "in the fall" of 2006....Yes, I did say 2006. Still. i last heard there were just a couple of weeks of mixing to be done. That was March 2007.
In the meantime, Rhino have released a series of Collector's CDs with two albums per CD. Modern audiences should try Streetfighter/Hope & Glory which are pretty damn fine.
