Working My Way Back To You (Philips, 1966)

Post by John »

The group powered on into 1966 and could seemingly do no wrong. Hits with Girl Come Running and Let's hang On! were followed by Working My Way back To You and an album of the same name. Twelve original and superb tracks. The recording of these was interspersed between long tours and the pace was fast. The music itself continued to be more sophiosticated, but equally it lost not of its commercial appeal, always a deadly trap when musiciand develop faster than their audience wants them to.

The Four Seasons have always stayed true to their past and live shows to this very day support all the music all the way back to 1962. Arrangements may change and medleys come and go, but they have not turned their back on anything.

Vocal highlight for me is Everybody Knows My Name, a tough Valli vocal that frankly I don't think anyone else could carry off.
