Turnstiles by Billy Joel

Post by John »

CBS, 1976.

This album sort of marks the completion of the first phase of Billy Joel music. It has tracks similar to what went before (Say Goodbye To Hollywood, James, All You Want To Do Is Dance, Summer Highland Falls) but bravely points to a new maturity (New York State of Mind, Prelude?Angry Young Man, I've Loved These Days, Miami 2017 (I've Seen The Lights Go Down on Broadway))

It may be only eight tracks, but it's a sugnificant album and a terrific listen. When we get to the karaoke versions I want to try out New York State of Mind, which is real blues and has a raw power that appeals very much.
