The Forgotten City of Al-Arin

Post by John »

Here's a link to the rough copy of this module. The text is the final edit, but the maps are mostly still hand drawn.

It's playable though, so have a go!

This is where Chris Gonnerman, who was leading the restoration process, has lodged the material on the web. It's been found by chance, so there it is for anyone who wants to access it.

Have you downloaded the information to your computer? Maybe we should try our own restoration! :D

The project is now active again. We have a mapper to translate the maps (Sir Clarence) and we are currently looking for a proofer to double check the text.

Any volunteers out there?

It is a good thing that the Forgotten City has been remembered. I would offer my services as a proof reader but my English grammer and stuff is rubbish.

Don't worry, it's in hand and the text is being checked as we speak.

The maps will be the original, traditional blue and white (very cool) so it's Genuine First Edition in every respect.

This has been available on Dragonsfoot for a while now and download numbers are steadily creeping towards the 2000 mark. You know, that would be nearly £16,000 of turnover at a modest £7.99 per copy.

What a shame that so little actually gets into print these days.

Shame that you did not publish the module and charge £7.99 then! :D

Well I've been selectively using the material again as part of the ongoing Wednesday night adventures. It's amazing what modest level (4-6) adventurers can do when they use their heads and not their power. Things avoided, excellent, good idea!

Not such a good idea was letting off a delayed action 14d6 fireball in a room with over 1,000 devices in it that did the same. Fortunately, they had suitable protective spells in place, otherwise the damage of up to 84,000 points just might have been embarassing. However, it did stop the pursuit, so it wasn't all bad.

So onwards to the next section i think, xp done, adventure lined up and a new player in the mix as well. :)

That adventure was hard. We effectively just ran away! Took the treasure though, thieves in the night!!!!

I've just checked out the original link provided and all the material is still there and still accessible.

The finished product is also still available at dragonsfoot.org
